Surf Sense
Surf Progression Program in Peniche, Portugal
Surf Progression Program in Peniche, Portugal
A structured surf progression program in Peniche, Portugal, led by pro surfer Gui Fonseca.
Train at one of Europe’s most consistent surf destinations and Gui’s home break.
You surf. We film it. Every day you sit down with Gui and watch what actually happened out there.
This is not a surf camp. It’s a training program designed for intermediate to advanced surfers who want real improvement, not a holiday.
The surf house is yours if you want it. No charge.

Why Most Surfers Stop Progressing
Surfing more doesn’t equal progression.
Most surfers surf for years without ever understanding why they fail to get better. They repeat the same mistakes because nobody’s shown them what’s actually happening on their waves.
This program fixes that.
It’s not about surfing more waves. It’s about understanding every wave you surf.

What this is not
❌ A surf holiday
❌ Beginner coaching
❌ "Just surf more" advice
❌ Big groups shouting tips from the beach
Gui decides what you need each day. Some days that's two intense surf sessions with a long video review. Other days it's surfskate drills, paddling technique, or gym work. The program adapts to you — not the other way around.
Train around your Life
Not everyone can hand over a whole day. There is work waiting on a laptop. There is family who came for the beach, not the video analysis.
So take it one session a day. One surf, filmed, with the same sit-down with Gui afterward. The rest of the day is yours. The laptop, the beach, a long lunch.
For surfers who:
Are working while they are here. Brought a partner or family. Want real coaching without losing the whole day to it.
Fewer hours in the water. The same program in every other way.
Why Peniche
Peniche is one of Europe's most consistent surf destinations — and it's Gui's home break. He's been surfing these waves for over 20 years.
Within a 15-minute drive: beach and reef breaks for every swell or wind direction nd Supertubos — where the WSL Championship Tour stops every year.
✅ Consistent summer waves — rarely flat
✅ Multiple spots matched to your level
✅ Gui's 20+ years of local knowledge
✅ Warm weather, long days, surf town atmosphere
This is where Gui trains himself. Now it's where he'll train you.
Is This Program for You?
This program is for intermediate and intermediate to advanced surfers who:
→ Can paddle out and catch waves independently
→ Want to improve their turns, positioning, or wave selection
→ Are willing to be coached — filmed, critiqued, and pushed
→ Have the fitness to train twice a day for multiple days
→ Want to understand the why behind their surfing
If you're a beginner looking for first lessons, this isn't the right fit.
If you're a surfer who's been stuck at the same level and wants to finally break through — this is exactly what we built.
Competitive athletes: ask about our tailored athlete track when you apply.
Which length suits you?
2–5 days · up to 8 sessions full time. For surfers short on time who want honest analysis on one or two specific things. A focused reset.
1 week · around 10 sessions full time. Enough time to film, review, fix, and re-test. You'll understand more about technique, how to read waves and sections, and how to spot your own mistakes.
2 weeks · around 20 sessions full time. This is where you start to notice real change. You get more confident and take your surfing further, build paddle strength, catch more waves, and polish your turns.
1 month · around 40 sessions full time. For surfers who want a big jump. Real improvement, a deeper understanding of your surfing, time to start riding more performance boards, and full preparation for the season.
Gui Fonseca
Gui is a professional surfer from Peniche with over 20 years of competitive experience at national, European, and international level. In 2022, he reached the podium at the ISA World Surfing Games representing Portugal.
Today he coaches intermediate, advanced, and competitive surfers through Surf Sense. His approach is built on understanding the why behind every movement. He doesn't just tell you what to fix, he explains why it's happening and gives you the tools to change it. On video, on the surfskate, and in the water.

FAQ
What level do I need to be?
You should be able to paddle out and catch unbroken waves on your own. If you're not there yet, this isn't the right program. Start with our online coaching and come back when you're ready.
What's included?
Coaching, two filmed sessions a day (10 sessions per week), daily video analysis, and accommodation in our surf house. Flights and food are on you.
How does payment work?
A 30% deposit books your spot. The balance is due 30 days before your start date, or right away if you book within 30 days of it.
Can I get a refund?
Your deposit is fully refundable within 7 days of booking, as long as you booked more than 30 days before your start date. After that it's non-refundable but fully transferable. Move your dates or pass your spot to a friend.
What if I book and I'm not the right level?
We check fit in a WhatsApp chat/email after you book. If it's genuinely not the right program for you, you get a full refund.
What if the surf is flat?
Over a week, a flat day evens out. On the long weekend your six sessions are guaranteed. If conditions take one out, we replace it with surfskate, video analysis, or a theory session on reading waves and positioning.
Where exactly is it?
